Welcome to Catholic Sistas’ newest series, featuring some of our friends in the Catholic blogging world entitled Fabulously Featured which will run on Wednesdays. I have always wanted to introduce you to some new blogs to follow and support, but seriously lacked the time to put this together before now. In a Facebook group of fellow Catholic women bloggers, I asked ladies to answer some questions for this series, and they were all too excited to participate! I give you their answers in their own words. 🙂
Emily at Conversation with Women is a woman after my own heart. I love multi contributor blogs because it ends up being a treasure trove of so many voices that stoppers-by will not have to look long before they connect with a particular writer and the stories they have to tell. The blog’s focus is telling stories anonymously on raw topics, so women are free to share in a unique way they may not otherwise be able.

ESTABLISHED:
March 2013
THEME:
Conversation with Women is blog for women who have struggled with Catholic teaching in the areas of sexuality, marriage, fertility, or chastity but ultimately have found peace, joy, and healing through the church and by living her teaching. All stories are anonymous. Women find support, community, and kindling for in person conversations. Women find that they are not alone.
INSPIRATION/MOTIVATION:
Conversation with Women was initially an occasional column in a parish bulletin. I ran across it and thought it was a brilliant idea. I really wanted to expand the reach of the project and a blog seemed to be the best answer, I approached the women involved and they agreed to let me do it. One of the original women, Mary Clare, has continued to work on the blog with me.
FAVORITE ELEMENT:
I love that we are able to reach struggling women with the truth, to be their confidant and support. Sometimes women are too ashamed to confide int heir friends about their struggles or don’t have well-formed like-minded friends. This can leave women feeling isolated and that isn’t good. Conversation with Women gives women an opportunity to talk about their faith struggles, a subject near and dear to their heart, without revealing themselves or their family. They find support (in the comments and the other stories). They find that they are not alone.

You are not alone!
ADVICE :
Prayer is the proverbial horse before the cart. I would pray before starting a blog and try to listen. Is this how God wants you to further His kingdom?

Martina is a cradle Catholic, wife to Neil, and mother to eight kiddos here {and three in heaven}– 4/96-12/19. She decided to homeschool the kiddos in 2010 after many years in public schools and is currently transitioning out of homeschooling. She is the creator of Catholic Sistas which focuses on a feminine perspective of the Catholic Faith. The website was the result of an existing camaraderie by the contributors in a Catholic women’s group she created. She is also a Seal of Approval evaluator for the Catholic Writers Guild. Lest you think she spends all her time online, Martina has enjoyed getting out into the community by serving on the Pastoral Council from 2010-2013. She is constantly on the lookout to make her parish as welcoming as the small town she grew up in East Texas. This task is not easy given that St. William is the largest parish in the Austin diocese, serving well over twenty thousand parishioners. She loves Jesus, coffee, bacon, chocolate, photography, more bacon, evangelizing, and the company of those unafraid to use their sense of humor.
