40 Days for Abortion?

If you keep up with LifeNews.com, you probably saw this recent article of theirs that outlines the jaw-dropping, eyeball-popping-out-of-your-head attempt on the part of Planned Parenthood to essentially mock the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil. They are countering with their own version that praises abortion and falsely heralds it as “good.”

In my Catholic group, this sparked some serious shock among the ladies.

Why shouldn’t it? God is good and His creation is good and we support all life. There is no wiggle room on the life issues. Not only that, we support life above and beyond the selfish promotion by the rest of the world that tells us that the value of life hinges on what our personal feelings are.

Feelings are fleeting. Life is permanent. Even if it is destroyed, it is a fact and existence that cannot be denied.

Imagine if someone handed you a counterfeit bill and tried to tell you it was the real thing. If you didn’t know any better, you’d probably believe them. After all, most of us are not trained to know the difference between a fake and the real thing. And of course, the fake wants you to believe it’s real – otherwise, it’s purpose is lost and it becomes unusable.

So…can we be surprised that Planned Parenthood has tried to sell unsuspecting members of society of it’s “good” agenda to pray for abortion?? Likewise, can we be surprised that they are backed by “Christian” churches that are also promoting or have fallen prey to the counterfeit bill Planned Parenthood is dangling like an enticing carrot?

As Catholics, our responsibility is always to our Faith first, trust in God’s good plan that all life has value despite the emotions that try to sway us away from the Truth.

My challenge to you is not to stifle rage at this mockery. Be angry! It’s a totally normal reaction!

But, after you have picked yourself up off the floor, I encourage you to do something a friend mentioned in the midst of the anger that stirred when discussing this article. She said all God needs is faith the size of a mustard seed to work on our hearts.

Commit to prayer for those who are praying to God to promote abortion. Pray that their heart is open by even the size of a mustard seed and for God to help soften their hearts to the lies of the abortion movement. Consider offering up your daily struggles for the conversion of their hearts.

It’s one thing to be justifiably angry when mockery such as this arises. Let’s do more than just be angry. Let’s pray them into a faith that truly embraces all life and not just fatal choices that hinge on passing emotions.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

I love you very much.

I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby I have spiritually

adopted who is in danger of abortion. Amen.
