“Waiting… I hate waiting.”

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat [or drink], or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25

Who knew Inigo Montoya (Princess Bride) and I had so much in common?!  I like to DO – make a plan, get it done.  Have you ever prayed for God’s guidance in a situation?  I have.  To me it seems like there are two choices, so I ask God to show which path to choose.  It is a simple issue in my limited view of God’s plan for me.  Most recently, we have been praying for God to show us the next step in His plan for us to move from our current home or remodel.  I have prayed on and off for 8+ years for an answer to this question.  As I pray, the word I hear from the Lord is, “Wait.”  Really?  That’s what You have for me?  But we have so many girls and so few closets!  The secular part of my brain starts arguing that the children are getting bigger and need their own space and we need to do something NOW.  The Lord answers, “Wait.  Purge first.  Separate from the material things.”  So I started purging.  The basement went from an unfinished, cluttered mess to a livable play area for the children.  Then the itch started again.  I talked to a realtor, started a plan to get the house ready to sell.  But again the word, “Wait.”  So I am trying to accept this period of waiting.  It is a time of waiting for us – a time to prepare our hearts along with our home.  It is a time of detaching from material things, a time to open ourselves to God’s Word.

Simplifying: Stopping the race; no longer trying to keep up with the latest and greatest – or the neighbors

No one can serve two masters.   He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.  Matthew 6:24

Growing in faith: taking more time each day to read God’s Word and pray over how it applies to TODAY

Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence* of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Learning: how little we actually NEED; how little the children actually WANT and how much they really want our attention not our things

Loving: truly taking the time to be a family

Trusting:  Knowing that God’s plan is perfect and will come to fruition in God’s time

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Father, Thank You.  Your timing is perfect.  I want to serve only You.  I ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

 There is an appointed time for everything,

and a time for every affair under the heavens.

A time to give birth, and a time to die;

a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.

A time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to tear down, and a time to build.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them;

a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.

A time to seek, and a time to lose;

a time to keep, and a time to cast away.

A time to rend, and a time to sew;

a time to be silent, and a time to speak.

A time to love, and a time to hate;

time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit have workers from their toil?  I have seen the business that God has given to mortals to be busied about.  God has made everything appropriate to its time, but has put the timeless* into their hearts so they cannot find out, from beginning to end, the work which God has done.

Ecclesiates 3:1-11
