Of Note – March 2019

Welcome to the first installment of Of Note. We’ve scoured the Catholic blogosphere and our own archives to bring you worthy orthodox Catholic reading. Grab a cup of coffee, curl up in your favorite spot, and enjoy.

Liturgical Living

Lacey from Catholic Icing has some wonderful printable idea pages that will help you plan your best Lent and Easter yet!

How many of our families have birthdays which fall during Lent?  We have one that falls on Ash Wednesday this year. Kendra Tierney from Catholic All Year has some great advice on how families might celebrate birthdays that fall during Lent.

I absolutely love this idea for delving into scripture from Heather Lynne of Crafty Catholic Teacher. I think I might add it to my Lenten plans this year.

Hidden Gems

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve had to have heard of the decluttering queen Marie Kondo. Musings from the Home has some lovely, wise words on Christ-like minimalism and practicing detachment.

This post on “feminine styles of holiness” from Melanie of Joy of Nine9 really spoke to me.

Ginny from Not So Formulaic has some very wise advice for living Lent with kids who have invisible special needs and are differently-wired.

The Professionals

Nikko Lane from One Peter Five taps into the popular KonMarie method and applies it to the current spiritual strife in the Church.

Celia Pigg writing for Aleteia calls out impatience as the great relationship destroyer. Read her encouragement on giving your full attention to the person in front of you.

Evidence of the efficacy of prayer, Dr. Jeff Mirus of Catholic Culture writes about a pro-life miracle in the Arlington Diocese.

Being a convert myself, and a fan of Old Hollywood, I couldn’t resist reading snippets from Marie Claire Kendall’s book, Oasis: Conversion Stories of Hollywood Legends in Doug Mainwaring’s article for LifeSite News.

Ink Slingers

Our very own Anni blogs at Beautiful Camouflage.  Her recent post inspires us to Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Catholic.  You don’t want to miss reading her call to action.

Another of our wonderful contributors, Sarah of Wild Things Adventure has me thinking about my garden plan even if we still have at least 3 more months before we can plant here in Utah. I think my boys will enjoy planning with me tapping into Sarah’s “garden school”.

From the Archives

Ink Slinger Michelle wrote about her Lenten struggles in 2017. This post is such a great one to revisit before Lent 2019 begins.

We are continually looking for new and lesser known bloggers to feature here on Of Note. If you write a blog or know of one we should take a look at leave a link in the combox or email me at: OfNote@CatholicSistas.com
