This week, the sixth Sunday of Easter, Jesus gets down to the basics:

“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.”

What a beautiful reflection today on Mother’s Day, on a modern day expression of keeping the Fourth Commandment to honor our Father and our Mother.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you. [Ex 20:12; Deut 5:16.]…

For… He was obedient to them. [Lk 2:51]

So we keep the Lord’s commandments… and in turn honor His mother today as well.
